| M |  This week: "The Senshi and the Painted Cave" 7-15-98Well, most of us love browsing in Sailormoon image galleries and downloadingcard scans, or anything there, but now that we are FLOODED with them, and can see thatmost of them are so awfully designed, it's really not that fun anymore eh? Image Gallery owners, please understand that these points are only my opinions on some galleries that I'vealmost exploded in, and they're only my complaint. (Please don't flame? ^_^;)
I hate finding myself, in this gallery that's full of gigantic pictures! They aren'tresized, and they are all just really covering the screen! It makes it seem like a nightmareto be presented with Usagi's face that way. I panic and continuously hit the stop button onmy browser. Suddenly... it crashes. If you want to share your pictures that way, it isn'tgoing to work.
So you want to know how to make thumbnails. You think, easy! I'll just adjust allthe img tags with the "width" and "height" tags. THEN they'll be thumnails!!! No, notexactly. They won't flood up the screen, but they still take just as long to load. Thumbnails are just tiny preview versions of the images, no larger than 100x100.
Let's say... you have no way at all in making a thumbnail. No image editor... nothumbnail maker. Don't even think about adjusting the img tag... link to your imagesusing text. Sometimes that's even better because it doesn't take long to load at all ^_^
Another thing to note. You want to start an image gallery, but remember, thattakes a lot of webspace. Let's say, all you can get is Geocities, and that's only 11 megs(Sailormercury says, don't make duplicate accounts!) if you don't have the webspace, you shouldn't go linking to images from another server, or another image gallery. You're slowingyour site down and you're slowing down their site too. That makes it bandwidth stealing, andmaybe the site you are linking to pays monthly for their webspace... and you are just using it up. (Note: Haruna's Homeroom). Try image compression? Or many free webspaces?
